Lose weight and burn fat faster by timing your workouts!

Studies have shown that the two best times to perform your cardiovascular workouts are first thing in the morning before you eat anything or directly after lifting weights. By performing cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach you will burn more fat because your body has fasted over night and has low glycogen levels. Since you have fasted overnight there is no food to burn during your workout and your body will burn more fat for fuel as a result. During my weight loss I worked out first thing in the morning on an empty stomach six days a week. It wasn’t always easy but I was motivated by the results and it soon became routine. I found that getting my workout out of the way was a great feeling and helped me begin my day happy and energized.

I know it is difficult to drag yourself from your comfortable bed into an intense cardio session, but I promise the feeling you will have when you finish your workout is worth the trouble. If you can’t do it every time don’t sweat it just try and perform cardio first thing as much as you can. Your body and mind will only benefit from it.

Cardio directly after lifting weight is also an optimal time because lifting weights depletes glycogen levels as well and your body will burn more fat as a result. These two tips will not make or break your diet they are just strategies you can mix into your plan to see more effective results and may help you if you hit a plateau. Remember that you are making a life transformation. The key is to form habits you know you can maintain long after you have reached your goal.

Many people can’t workout on an empty stomach and need to put something in their bodies to get through an effective cardio session. Some people have to work out in the afternoon or night because of work or other commitments and others simply prefer it. Do whatever works for you. Working out shouldn’t be a drag you should try your best to have fun and feel good afterwards. So if you one day you have the time or feel especially energized try cardio right when you wake up.
